Corinne Tisserand

Corinne Tisserand - Partner

is a graduate from Brown University and has over 15 years experience in education consulting focusing on University applications for Bachelor and Masters as well as boarding school placements. She truly believes in working closely with candidates to ensure all expectations are evaluated and the best fit schools and programs are identified. Choosing a university is not just a simple next step or a name on a CV,  it defines the next pivotal years in a young person's life. Corinne focuses on the UK and European applications as well as boarding school placements and ensures Alma Mater has an up to date unique network of trusted education partners worldwide. Prior to setting up Alma Mater Europe, Corinne founded Alma Mater Brazil in 2012 now a highly successful market leading company based in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo.

Pamela Boulet - Partner

has been advising students in all facets of the admissions process for over a decade.  She is on the board of the University of Pennsylvania Parents Council and Outreach Committee and President of the Wellesley College Alumnae Association in France, having previously served as their Alumnae Admissions Representative.  She has a unique perspective of schools from the inside out, a vantage point that has proven her success with students.  She has personally visited countless campuses across the United States in order to provide families with the insight and understanding needed to assure their future academic success.

Isabel Cristina Baez - Partner

a veteran physics teacher with over 11 years in education,  crafted college letters of recommendations and mentored countless junior students with career paths and college applications. She has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, Venezuela; a M. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of St. Thomas; and a certificate in College Counseling from UCLA. She has lived in Venezuela, Egypt, Bolivia, France, United States and Brazil. Data driven, Isabel’s approach to college counseling includes promoting applicant’s self-exploration and research, with the goal of finding a best fit program.

Andreas Bonetis - Counselor

Has over 15 years of experience in education and university consulting. Starting his career in Paris, first as an English literature teacher and then as a university advisor, he has insight into both the inner workings of a school and the broader educational landscape. He is a firm believer in individualized guidance, and the importance of aligning academic paths with personal aspirations. Having grown up in the United States and Europe, with a BA from the Pennsylvania State University, and graduate studies at the University of Barcelona and the Sorbonne, he possesses a nuanced understanding of American and European secondary school and university systems. This cultural duality allows him to connect easily with students from international backgrounds, offering a comprehensive and empathetic approach to university advising.

Nina Hanbury - Counselor

Has a bachelors degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics, has worked as a research assistant at the University of Leiden, and is currently working towards a masters degree in Social Memory at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro. She has 5 years of experience in education consulting, focusing on applications to the United Kingdom.

Azza El-Farouki - Counselor

Holds a B.A. in Culture & Politics from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, a MSc in Media & Communications from the London School of Economics & Political Science and a certificate in College Counselling from UCLA. Drawing on her own experience as a parent of college students, she has an extensive insight in the intricacies of the college admissions process. Azza enjoys working with students; supporting and guiding them in their own pursuit of personal growth and academic excellence. Prior to joining Alma Mater, Azza co-founded Nai Arabia; an all-natural Arabian beverage brand. Born and raised in Saudi Arabia, she has lived in the United States, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates. Azza is playing a pivotal role in growing our Middle East Alma Mater branch and expanding our ever-growing clientele in the region.

Mona Urbain - Counselor

Is British of Lebanese and Iranian descent. She obtained a BA in Modern Languages from UCL in 1994 and then a MSc in European Studies from LSE in 1995 with a Master’s thesis on “The effects of the 1973 oil embargo on the Common Energy Policy in Europe." She moved to Paris and worked in finance for 15 years, first as a money-market broker and then in asset management. She has two sons, one who is studying International Politics at Bocconi and the other in middle school. Mona has over five years experience in college counselling with an expertise on European Business Schools and UCAS applications; she holds the UK Agent and Counsellor certificate from the British Council.

Sam Sugerman - Counselor

Was born and raised in New York City, where he received his BA from Columbia University magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a double major in Philosophy and German Literature & Cultural History. After a year at the Deutsches Haus at New York University teaching German to children and planning cultural and academic events, he came to Heidelberg, Germany with a Fulbright Scholarship from the U.S. Department of State to pursue a master’s degree in German Literature and Philology. Receiving further scholarships from the DAAD and ELES, he has pursued additional coursework in Pedagogy, English Literature & Language, and Jewish Studies. As a research assistant at the Chair for Modern German Literature, he has worked on numerous scholarly publications, editing articles in German and English as well as publishing his own academic work. Sam draws on his transatlantic educational experiences to help international students find their place at U.S. colleges and universities, taking into account their own cultural backgrounds, needs, and expectations.

José Fernandez - Counselor

Originally from Venezuela but have spent significant portions of my life in different parts of the world. After living in Wisconsin, USA, where I attended high school and university, I earned my Bachelor's degree in International Business from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Later, I pursued a Master's degree in Education from Quincy University. With 19 years of experience in education, my professional journey has taken me to various corners of the globe. I spent eight years teaching in Chicago before relocating to Abu Dhabi, where I worked as a business account teacher and career advisor. After five fulfilling years in the UAE, I made the move to Mallorca, Spain, where I've spent the past six years working with elite athletes as a university counselor.I am deeply passionate about what I do and find immense joy in guiding students toward their ideal career paths. I firmly believe that there is a perfect place for everyone, and I adapt my approach to each student's unique desires and expectations. Helping individuals discover their strengths and passions and guiding them toward fulfilling careers is not just my job—it's my calling.

Mona Urbain

Mona is of Lebanese and Iranian descent with British nationality. She obtained a BA in Modern Languages (French) from UCL in 1994 and then a BSc in European Studies from LSE in 1995 followed by her Master's thesis there. She moved to Paris and worked in finance, first as a money- market broker in charge of REPOs for two and half years and then in Asset Management at BNP Paribas Asset management for twelve years before transitioning to college counseling, specializing in UK/Europe. Mona’s invaluable experience and proven track record with our UK and Europe university candidates (in particularly OXBRIDGE applications) makes her an invaluable member of our Alma Mater team.

Maggie White - Business Development

Maggie White graduated from Thomas Jefferson University (formerly Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science) in 1992 with a Bachelor Of Science in Marketing and Textile. Upon graduation, she worked for fashion entrepreneur Norma Kamali, undertaking a number of development roles. She then joined Anne Klein as Marketing Manager, reporting to the Director of Advertising – In 2019, she moved to London where she became involved in the rapidly developing London fashion/business community, being among the first team of employees to join Jimmy Choo where she was Director of Store Development.

Maggie Is the mother of two children currently in middle and high school. She has been a PTA volunteer at every school they have attended and has been involved in organizing school gala fundraisers, running the youth soccer league for over 100 children, and is now VP of the Boosters Club supporting the athletic programs at the American School of Dubai. Maggie was born in New Jersey, USA, and has lived in 4 countries, London UK, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Moscow Russia and currently residing in Dubai, UAE.
